corresponding axial contrast-enhanced CT (right). Notice that the right
hemisphere is grossly enlarged, but without a focal lesion. There is a diffuse
infiltration of the right hemisphere by a low-grade (WHO Grade 2) fibrillary
astrocytoma. This appearance is typical of the so-called "gliomatosis cerebri".
Notice that although the right thalamus is slightly enlarged (displacement of
the internal cerebral veins to left) there is no abnormal enhancement. A lack of
enhancement is typical for low-grade diffuse astrocytomas.
